FORECAST FOR TO-DAY’S WEATHER.

Haze and cloud increasing-; unsettled conditions probable. Following is the weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 24 hours ending 3 p.in. to-day:— An anti-cyclone covered the Dominion yesterday, the centre still being to the north, while a depression was located over the north-western portion of the Tasman Sea and moving south-eastward. Southerly winds at first over the northern half of the North Island, but northerlies soon prevailing in most districts. A change to southerlies probable shortly, however, in the southern portions of the South Island ; force strong at times in the Cook and Foveaux Straits areas, but otherwise mainly light to moderate. Seas rather rough to rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere in New Zealand waters slight to moderate. Light variable winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, later tending northerly and freshening, ■with seas rising somewhat in the northern portion; moderate westerly to southerly winds and moderate seas in the southern portion. Some scattered rains still probable in the western and southern portions of the South Island; otherwise fair to fine and warm at first, but haze and cloud gradually increasing over the Dominion, and unsettled conditions probable within 24 to 36 hours. YESTERDAY’S WEATHER. Wellington.—lt was fine though cloudy at rimes, with a moderate Jo fresh northwesterly wind prevailing. The minimum temperature on Monday night was 52.5 deg.. and the maximum yesterday 64.9 deg. The temperature at 3.30 p.m. was 61.7 deg. Masterton.— Fine and sunny ; light westerly breeze. Wanganui.— Fine and warm, passing clouds; gusty westerly wind. Waipukurau.— Another perfect summer day, with brilliant sunshine throughout. Auckland.— Fine and sunny, witli a light south-westerly wind ; conditions were warm. The barometer was steady at 30.20 in. Christchurch. — Fine and warm with passing clouds, the maximum temperature being 71.3 deg„ and the minimum 48.8 deg. There was a moderate north-north-west breeze in the morning, ehanging to easterly in the afternoon. The barometer, after falling, was rising slowly and stood at 30.01 in. Dunedin.— Mild, with a slight breeze from the north-east. The maximum temperature was 65deg., and the barometer was rising, last night’s reading being 30.02 in.
