AUSTRALIAN ART

Loan Exhibition Closing To-morrow evening will be the final opportunity for Wellington folk to view the Australian art loan collection at the National Gallery. After Thursday these very beautiful paintings, representative of many schools, will he packed, and sent forward to the Sargeant Art Gallery at Wanganui. After a month there they are to go to Auckland for exhibition. Contemporaneous with this loan collection from the National Gallery of New South Wales, there has been a very fair representation at the National Gallery of the works of living Australian artists, who sent them to Wellington for the purpose of sale. As only two of these paintings have been sold —both by the South Australian artist. Hans Heyson—the exhibition from that point of view cannot be said to have been very successful.
