“GOD SAVE THE KING”
“Daily Mirror’s” Unusual Front Page London, December 7. The “Daily Mirror” has an unconventional front page. “God Save the King” supersedes the title line, which is reduced, and then in bold type there are five questions, including: “Will the Government approach the Dominions to reconsider the verdict against the King and consent to the marriage?” and also “Would abdication mean the King’s exile?” These questions are sandwiched between headings in still larger type: “Forty-five million demand to know” and “And then they will judge.” STOCK MARKETS QUIET (Received December 8, 7.30 p.m.) London, December 7 There was little business on the stock markets and transactions in some speculative sections were reduced by 50 per cent.
