Vegetable Fibre in Wool “The Dominion,” December 8, 1911.) A meeting in London of the International Vegetable Fibre Wool Committee, supported the Roubaix resolution. The International Congress will meet in London in May.. [The resolution was t° the effect that a large proportion of growers did not sufficiently realise the danger of vegetable matter entering the wool from inferior bags, and buyers were recommended lo declare that they would buy only wools packed in proper bags, commencing with the season 1912-13.] important tests are progressing with closely-woven packs, entirely paper-lined, which are stated to be a considerable improvement on those shown in the packing of colonial wool, but the chief desideratum is a perfect pack cheaper than the paper-lined one recommended by the committee.
In the New South Wales Legislative Assembly, Mr. McGowen, Premier, announced’ that the Government had decided to turn tbe Totalisator Select Committee into a Royal Commission which would tour the Commonwealth and New Zealand and collect the fullest and latest information regarding the.workings of the machine.
