COCKTAILS AT FIVE

Mrs. W. Waddel, Kelhurn Parade, was hostess yesterday at a 5 o’clock cocktail party in honour of Miss A. J. Greatorex, England, and her son, Mr. Gordom Waddel, whose marriage will take place to-morrow. The guests, who were received by Mrs. Waddel, assisted by her daughters, Mrs. I. Martin and Mrs. C. N. Tucker (Auckland), were entertained ’in the large entrance lounge, the double drawing-room and the dining-room, which were artistically decorated with blue, purp’o and pink hydrangeas and masses of rosecoloured gladioli. Cocktails and their accompanying savouries were served, and all present took the opportunity of wishing the guests of honour every happiness for the future. Mrs. Waddel was wearing a frock of silver grey sheer, and Miss Greatorex was in brown marocain, patterned with turquoise blue and beige, aud a large brown straw hat. Mrs. Martin’s tunic frock was of navy georgette and Mrs. Tucker was in black chiffon velvet.
