COUNTRY CRICKET
4 Mr. A. M. Ongley Again Sole Selector The mauugement committee of the Wellington Cricket Association has reappointed Mr. A. M. Ongley, of Palmerston North, as sole selector of teams representing the minor associations under the wing of the Wellington association. Mr. Ongley has now held this position for some years, and it has been largely due to his enthusiasm for the game and liis ability to select talent that such strong elevens have represented the country in the annual match against town for several seasons past. A player of long experience, Mr. Ongley is a sound judge of a cricketer, and it can be taken for granted that, as in the past, lie will bring the best talent tn tho Taranaki, Wanganui, Manawatu, Hawke's Bay, Wuirarapa, Nelson, Marlborough. and Rangitikei districts under the eyes of the Wellington and New Zealand selectors in the matches which are to be played this season. Unusual interest attaches to form this season in view of the fact New Zealand will send ’ a team to tour England next year.
M. Moitessier, Prefect of the Gard Department, has succeeded M. Magny as Chief of the Surete Natiouale. the French "Scotland Yard.”
