Hard-worked Role in “My Man Godfrey”
Starring together for the first time in three years, William Powell and Carole Lombard soon will be seen on the St. James Theatre screen in Universal’s "My Man Godfrey,” which advance reports declare to be excellent madcap romantic comeay. The story deals with the exploits o£ a whimsical butler in the most rattlebrained family in Manhattan. He manages to soothe the fevered hangover brow of the mother, batter down the arrogance of one (laughter, dodge the affectionate aims/of the other with 99? per cent, success, and save the father’s fortune. Powell is cast in the title role with Miss Lombard portraying the daughter Irene, known as the “dumbest debutante in New York.” A strong SUP” liorting cast includes Alice Brady. Gail Patrick, Jean Dixon, Eugene Pallette, Alan Mowbray, Misclia Auer and Robert Light. The Universal picture was produced and directed by Gregory La Cava from Eric Hatch’s novel of the same name.
