FALSE PRETENCES AND THEFT
Man Sentenced to Jail By Telegraph—Press Association, Auckland, November 16. A sentence of 18 months’ imprisonment with hard labour was imposed in the Supreme Court by Mr. Justice Fair on Desmond Coutes Dallas, aged 23, formerly a radio dealer, Te Aroha, on 14 charges of false pretences, also on a charge of theft and obtaining credit by fraud. The judge said that imprisonment must be imposed. Virtually £lO9O was involved. The offences commenced in June, two months after a probation period for a previous offence.
