First in New York The first negro magistrate ever to have held the office was sworn in recently by the mayor of New York. Mr. Myles Paige is a negro lawyer. He is a graduate of Harvard, and the news of bis appointment has given the greatest satisfaction to the 327.000 members of his race who live in New York.
