Bowen Street Tram Route.— One suggestion in the planning of the tramway short-cut from Lambton Quay to Tinakori Road is the passage of the road by tunnel under Bowen Street Cemetery. In the view of Bowen Street shown above the cemetery lies behind the houses at the end. A view from Tinakori Road of Sydney Street, into which the tunnel would emerge, is shown on the right. The Seddon Memorial, which appeals in the Bowen Street picture just above the roof of the Terrace Congregational Church, serves as a positional link between the two pictures.
