WHERE ARE THOSE GUIDING LINES?

Pedestrian Crossing-Places

Judging by the gradual disappearance of many of the white lines for pedestrians in some parts of the city, it is obvious that more regular attention is required on the part of the civic authorities.

If pedestrians are to be encouraged to develop the safe habit of crossing streets at right angles and at recognised places, then some attempt should be made to keep the guiding lines distinctly marked. Curiously enough, municipalities, when paving roads overlook the small detail of incorporating guiding lines in the paving work. It seems to be regarded as preferable to send a man round every now and then with a can of paint.

In an up-to-date city it should never be necessary to carry out the painting of lines in busy thoroughfares between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
