EAST COAST AIR LINE

Resumption of Running

It is expected that East Coast Airways Ltd., which operates the service between Napier and Gisborne, will resume running early in December. The company has been unable to operate for some months, the licence for the aerodrome at Darton Field (Gisborne) having been withdrawn so that extensions could be made and the surface levelled. This work is nearly finished, meantime reconstruction at the Napier ground has been begun, and it is expected that it will be about two jears before this is finished. At Napier, however, there is another roomy landing ground at Westshore, about three miles up the coast from Napier. East Coast Airways Ltd. has two D.H. Dragon machines, flown by Squadron Leader T. W. White and Mr. I’ \ Kirkup. Squadron Leader white acted as instructor to the Manawatu Aero Club while the. service was inoperative and Mr. Kirkup has been flying with Union and Cook Strait Airways.
