FARMER BREAKS LEG

Long Wait For Assistance

MISHAP IN ROUGH COUNTRY

To lie on wet ground in cold and generally unp'-iasant weather with a fractured right leg for about' 24 hours before he received assistance was the unenviable experience of Mr. E. Sinison, a middle-aged farmer, of Mangaroa Valley, late yesterday afternoon.

Mr. Simson was rounding up stock about three miles from the homestead on his property when the horse he was riding fell while galloping on difficult country at about 4 p.m. As a result, Mr. Simson was thrown off and received a fractured leg. His calls for assistance were unanswered until about 6.30 p.m., when he was found. Dr. F. W. Kemp. Upper Hutt, was summoned, and. together with five assistants, had a difficult task in carrying the injured man on an improvised stretcher back to the homestead. The Wellington Free Ambulance was called at 9.30 p.m., and Mr. Simson was taken to hospital.
