WORK AT HAWERA
Interesting Gallops Dominion Special Service. Hawera, October 6. Interesting gallops were performed by local candidates for Ellerslie, Trentham and Waverley at Hawera this morning. Fast work was done on (he outside of (he course proper, the going being firm. Notium had to lx? held back to Master Limond over six furlongs in 1.24. Notium <ould have done much better. He leaves for Auckland on Wednesday night. Brioni sprinted three furlongs in 41. Cray Step went well for a maiden to run half a mile in 52 1-5. Naughty Marietta, picked up by Little Robin after a furlong, ran half a mile in 54. Friesland and Lowen berg went an easy half-mile in 55. Friesland in particular could have done a lot better. His knee injury did not prove nearly ns serious as was at first anticipated. Whether the pair go to Riccarton will depend on their showings at Waverley. Advance Pln'ne held Cal la most comfortably over half a mile in 55. Corowa worked lazily over six in 1.25
3-5. He has been entered for Waverley, but is practically certain to go to Trentham.
Student Prince shaded Silvanu.s over five in 1.8 1-5, the latter having a big disadvantage in the weights. Lickem and Fairy Dale sprinted three furlongs together in 40.
