“COMMERCE” STAMPS
Run on Auckland Issues
By Telegraph—T'ress Association.
Auckland, October 6.
So great has been the run on “Commerce” stamps in Auckland that at the moment there are no supplies of sixpenny, fourpenny and twopence-half-penny issues. Collectors have been extraordinarily busy and on the opening day single orders of up to £3OO were placed for stamps, some collectors buying for overseas. Postal officials say that they have placed no restrictions on sales —first come, first served. Yesterday a further supply of two-pence-halfpenny and sixpenny stamps was made available, the former selling out within half an hour and the remainder by midday. WANGANUI STOCK DEPLETED Dominion Special Service. Wanganui, October 16. So keen has been the demand for Chambers of Commerce Congress commemorative stamps in Wanganui that stocks of 2Jd- and 4d. kinds have been exhausted. The former denomination sold out on the first day of issue, and
the last of the latter went to-day. According to Hie chief postmaster. Mr. W. G. Cooper, it is unlikely that stocks will be replaced. The remaining values are selling well.
