THEFT OF BOOKS
Labourer Sent to Jail

Auckland, October 6.
A labourer, Ignatius Patrick Cormick, aged 45, appeared for sentence at the Magistrate’s Court this morning on a charge of stealing two books, valued at 10/-, the property of Arthur Kingi, on September t 23. He was also charged with failing to comply with the terms and conditions of his release on probation at Wellington on June 20. The police said that Cormick had stolen the books from a room which he had shared with a missionary.
Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., imposed a sentence of three months’ imprisonment on the theft charge and convicted and discharged Cormick on the second charge.
