OBITUARY
Mr. J. W. Black
The death occurred on Wednesday of Mr. John William Black, formerly of Hawera, and for ten years a familiar figure in the printing trade in Wellington. He was 61 years of age. The second son of Mr. Robert Black, of the old coafch-fouilding firm of Rouse, Black and Sons, Mr. J. Black came to Wellington from Auckland as a youth and went to work with C. M. Banks Limited, with whom he gained experience jn all branches of the printing trade. He married Miss Louise Frith, daughter of W. Frith, a wellknown cricket professional. Later he entered the Government Printing Office. Twenty-four years ago Mr. and Mrs. Black went to Hawera, where he was for 13 years in charge of the jobprinting department of the “Hawera Star.” His next move was to the printing staff of the "Wanganui Chronicle,” and 10 years ago he became town traveller for Messrs. Hutcheson, Bowman and Johnston, Limited, Wellington.
He is survived by his wife, a son, Mr. E. B. Black, and a daughter, Mrs. A. W. Wilson, both of Hawera. The funeral will take place at the Karori cemetery to-day.
