As “Pam” of the children’s hour in Sydney, Miss Fleming is well-known to children in both Australia and New Zealand, and said that she received a great number of letters from young people in New Zealand. The contest was held to discover a radio personality and It is a great tribute to such a young girl that she was selected the winner out of so many contestants, including both men and women. Not only did they have to sing over the air, but tests for appearance, personality, education, general knowledge and general speaking had to be passed. As the contestants were . known only by numbers allotted them shortly before their broadcast, .instead of names, the winner was chosen entirely on her own merits and by popular vote. Miss Fleming will broadcast throughout her tour and in New York will broadcast from Radio City. Sne is accompanied by her father. Mr Hector Fleming, who is a professor or singing and choral conductor in Sydney.
