♦ - — ’■ Wrestling at Levin ‘ SPIRITED ENCOUNTER Dominion Special Service. Levin, September 16. The first professional wrestling contest in Levin was held at the Regent Theatre to-night by the Manawatu Wrestling Association, under the auspices of the Horowhenua Wrestling Association. There was a crowded house, and the public was treated to good preliminaries, in which three local boys figured, ae well as a good major bout, which proved a spirited encounter. The professional bout between Joe Savoldi and Joe Kopach Woods, opened with Woods putting on an arm-bar which he changed to an arm scissors. Savoldi soon freed himself to give Woods trouble with a sitting splits. Woods broke the hold with elbow jolts. He followed with a “surf board,” and the round ended with Woods in a wristlock and an arm scissors.

The second round saw Woods give Savoldi an anxious time with Japanese arm locks, and he missed a boston crab in the step-over. Savoldi replied with headlocks, but Woods broke clear. The third round opened with an exchange of elbow jolts, and Woods punished Savoldi in a hammeflock. This broken, Savoldi put an arm stretch on Woods, and the round closed with Savoldi in a double hammerlock. \ The fireworks started in the fourth round when Savoldi threw Woods three times in succession with hammerlocks. Woods replied with elbow jolts, and then threw Savoldi with a crutch hold. ■Savoldi followed suit and pinned Woods with a body press for the first fall. In the fifth round Woods ran out with three elbow jolts, but Savoldi replied with a drop-kick. At the end of the round Woods had to be assisted to his corner. He came out, apparently sick, for the sixth round. Savoldi went in with a flying tackle, followed by a drop-kick, and dumped him with a crotch hold.
