RESTAURANT WORKERS
Conciliation Council The hearing of the Dominion restaurant and tearoom workers ’ industrial dispute, initiated by the New Zealand Federated Hotel and Restaurant Employees’ Industrial Association of Workers, was continued in committee at a sitting of the conciliation council yesterday. Mr. W. J. Mountjoy is the employers’ advocate, and Mr. F. G.‘ Young (Auckland) is advocate for the workers. Agreement was reached on several clauses. The hours of work were discussed at length, but agreement was not reached, and it was decided to refer the clauses dealing with hours and wages to the Arbitration Court. Full discussion took place on the rating of kitchens, but no settlement could be reached on that question.
The hearing is to be continued this morning before the commissioner, Mr. M. J. Reardon.
