Farmers in Southland are experiencing great difficulty in securing labour for the busy season, which is now approaching. A prominent farmer recently stated that it was almost impossible to procure men for farms. Such a position he attributed to the shorter working week, staling that men would not go into the country when they could get sustenance in the cities and jobs •with Shorter working hours.
