NEW SHIP FOR NEW ZEALAND TRADE
Refrigeration Methods
London, September 15.
The "Daily Telegraph” says that science is closely allied with industry in the New Zealand Shipping Company’s 12,000-ton refrigerating ship to be launched at Clydebank on September 17. Ozone will be used to maintain the freshness of fruit and meat cargoes, for which over 300,000 cubic feet of sea air will be passed hourly through the freezing chambers. Gases breathed out by pears and apples will be blown away so as to maintain the purity of the air.
