‘T have never believed that women are handicapped by their sex for the highest church offices,” said the Rt. Rev. E. W. Barnes, Bishop of Birmingham, addressing a meeting at Selley Oak, in support of the admission of women to the ministry. He added: “I have known women who would make excellent bishops, wise, firm and kindly. Women might be ordained to the priesthood equallj with men.”
