4 Subsidising and Purchase of B Stations The possibility of the appointment of the Rev. C. G. Scriingeour to an official position in connection with the establishment of commercial radio stations. to be controlled by the Govern;nent, is the subject of comment in Parliamentary circles at present, but no official information can be obtained as to the position Mr. Scrlmgeour is the founder and director of the “Friendly Road” broadcasting station in Auckland, which is at present under offer to the Government for purchase as a future commercial station. It is generally anticipated that the first commercial station from which direct, radio advertising will be permitted will be established in Auckland.
In discussing the matter yesterday, the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. M. J.
