Lower Hutt Municipal Band
Sir,—The Lower Hutt Borough Council, according to your report of its monthly meeting, has refused the Lower Hutt Municipal Band permission to give a Sunday picture entertainment. Some members of the council, your report reads, “spoke of the undesirable element that was in evidence at the last Sunday concert.” I wish to deny this statement, as it is without any foundation whatsoever. The concert given by the Municipal Band was characterised by the vastness of its audience (over 1100 people being present) and the total absence of any form of “undesirable element” Incidentally, I do not think that any members of the borough council were present at the Municipal .Baid's performance. —I am, etc., • G. F. KAYE, Hon. Secretary, Lower Hutt Municipal Silver Band (Inc.). September 15, 1936.
