O.S.K. Line Direct Service To Be Resumed
The Osaka Shosen Kaisha’s direct service from Japan to New Zealand and back is to be resumed next month after a brief interruption due to the uncertain trade position between Australia and Japan. This advice was received yesterday by the Federal Company, Wellington agents for the O.S.K. Line. The three modern motor-ships, Sydney Maru, Brisbane Mani and Melbourne Marti, will maintain the service, while' the two new vessels, Canberra Maru and Tokyo Maru, will maintain the company’s service to Australia, for which they were specially built. The first sailing in the resumed separate New Zealand service will be from Japan on October 2, via Rabaul and Noumea to Auckland, where she is due on October 23, thence to Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. The service provides for loading during discharge at Lyttelton and Dunedin, and the vessel's return to Wellington and Auckland to complete loading, clearing the northern port for Japan, via Manila, Hong-Kong and Shanghai.'
