Hawke’s Bay Grovvers’ Request Bv Telegraph— I’rest-- Association. Hastings, September 14. At a largely-attended meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Fruit-growers Association held to consider matters in connection with suggested awards for orchard employees. the following motion was carried unanimously:—“That fruitgrowers being desirous of extending to employees the benefits of recent legislation with regard to wages and other conditions of labour, which at present they are unable to do because of the unsatisfactory financial position of rhe industry as a result of low prices both overseas and locally, the Government be requested to take immediate steps to ensure that fruit-growers are placed in a position of so doing.”
