The Conciliation Council, presided over by the commissioner (Mr. S. Ritchie), held a sitting in Christchurch on Saturday morning to consider the case of the Metal Workers’ Union and employers. All the conditions were agreed to, and a committee of the council was set up to review matters concerning the schedule and rate of pay in order to effect a complete settlement.
