Meeting of Wellington Board The monthly meeting of (he Wellington Technical College Board of Governors was held last night, Mr. T. Forsyth presiding. Mr. G. L. Stewart was appointed to represent the board of governors at the meeting of local bodies on August 3 to discuss further the forthcoming New Zealand centennial.

The Minister of Education, Hon. I’. Fraser, wrote accepting on behalf of himself anti Mrs. Fraser the board’s invitation to attend the jubilee celebrations of the college in December, and on behalf of the Government, to open the new home science wing.

The Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, in reply to the board's invitation, agreed to open the new auditorium on Monday, December 7. Tiie Wellington Employers’ Association wrote advising the re-election of Mr. 11. Morton to the board. Messrs. Morton ami Forsyth wore appointed a visiting committee for the month. Ridling stated" The Technical School Teachers’ Association is making an effort to arrange conferences for instructors in subjects dealing with trade and industry, and aims at holding the first conference in Auckland during the spring vacation. It asks that the board grant facilities and financial assistance to such instructors to attend the conference. “On July 17 inter-collegiate matches were played with the students of Wanganui Technical College. The competition seemed keener than in previous years, and the games reached a high standard. Manganni xvon three of the five matches. The college is greatly indebted to the parents of the students who acted as hosts to our visitors. Without their help these intercollegiate visits would be impossible. The second grade teams in both Rugby and basketball visited Masterton on Thursday and Friday last week, the basket ball being won by Masterton. 16 to 6, and the Rugby by "Wellington bv 8 points to 6. The students enjoyed their stay in Mastertoil, and were fittingly entertained by their hosts. “Enrolment in the evening classes has been heavy. The total enrolment since the beginning of the year is over 3000, and 2747 are at present in attendance. Part-time classes have on the whole been satisfactorily attended, the average attendance over all classes being 76 per cent. Attendance varies between 100 per cent, for such classes as dental metalwork and ’cello and 56 per cent, for motor-car body building drawing and sanitary science theory. The lowest attondftnccs were iiuule in some of the trfl.de classes. In certain industries the apprentices have been working overtime a good deal, and this explains the low average attendance. “The number of classes has increased considerably. In July of last year the total number of classes was 156.
