HAND PIERCED BY BULLET
Injury to Young Woman When Holding Rifle Dominion Special Service. Auckland, July 26. The accidental discharge of a .-22 calibre rifle she was holding resulted in a young woman. Miss Rosa Harriet Robertson, aged 21, single, having her left hand pierced by a bullet near Pokeno, this afternoon. Miss Robertson, who lives at 723 Manukau Road, was brought to the city on the pillion seat of a motor-cycle and admitted to the Auckland Hospital. Miss Robertson and a friend, Mr. CSmith, had travelled from the city and were about to go rabbit shooting. The accident occurred while Miss Robertson was holding the rifle, and the bullet passed through her left hand, which was scorched by the explosion. A temporary dressing was applied by Mr. Smith, and he assisted her back to the road and made unsuccessful at tempts to stop a passing motorist. He then decided to bring Miss Robertson to Auckland on the motor-cycle, and although suffering from pain and shock Miss Robertson withstood the journey without showing signs of collapsing. Her condition is not serious.
