LOW “CEILING”
Air Journey Curtailed
Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, July 24. Yesterday’s Union Airways machine, southbound from Palmerston North to Dunedin, was forced, in the interests of safety, to remain overnight at. Timaru, because of the very low “ceiling” from there to Dunedin. The passengers and mail were taken on to Dunedin by car. The machine did not proceed to Dunedin this morning, but stayed at Timaru. The mail and passengers for the northbound trip from Dunedin were transported to Timaru aerodrome by taxi, and the machine left for Christchurch, Blenheim and Palmerston North at 11.15 a.m., arriving at the northern terminus of its daily journey at 2.25 p.m., 50 minutes behind its scheduled time of arrival. Fortunately very good weather was experienced over the northward trip to-day, and the pilot was ahle to make up a fair amount of the lost time.
