The mountain pool was lonely— Then It heard Through the still dusk the winging Of a bird. Its song hushed, a thrush Bent to drink On tlie dark pool’s shadowed Brink. And the skies, remembering. From golden Jars Spilled in tlie pool’s dark hands The evening stars! —Arthur Wallace Peach.
