STORM BREWING
House of Commons and Meat Import Levy
CONSERVATIVES’ STAND
London, July 22.
The "Sun-Herald” news agency says that a storm is brewing in the House of Commons as a result of the Government’s decision not to place a levy on meat imports from the Dominions. The formidable nature of the agitation is shown by a resolution of the Conservative Agricultural Committee, comprising Conservative members of the House of Commons, that in order to reduce the amount of the Treasury subsidy, and as part of a long-term policy, all meat imports from the Dominions should at the earliest possible moment be levied on a preferential basis.
