Sir George Wilson, Auckland, is visiting Wellington. The Rt. Rev. W. A. Fitchett, Anglican Bishop of Dunedin, will arrive at Wellington to-day from the south, and will be the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Austin Cook, Kelburn. Mr. G. Claridge has returned to Wellington from Auckland. Mr. H. E. Taylor has returned to Wellington from Christchurch. Mr. H. D. Acland left Wellington last night for Christchurch. Captain S. Holm has returned to Wellington from Dunedin. Mr. Richard Hudson arrived at Wellington yesterday from Dunedin. Mr. P. Levi was re-elected chairman of the council of Victoria University College, Wellington, last night. Mr. W, A. Flavell, of the Westport Coal Company, left Wellington last night for the South Island. Mr. A. T. Donnelly arrived at Wellington yesterday morning from Christchurch.

Mr. H. A. Parkinson was re-elected treasurer of the council of Victoria University College, Wellington, last night. , Mr. T. A. B. Grant, late acting manager of the De Luxe Theatre, has taken over the management of the Plaza Theatre, Napier. Mr. H. H, Sterling has returned to Wellington from Christchurch, where he attended the conference held to form the South Islands of New Zealand Travel Association.

Mr. L. Cooper, who for the past 12 years has been chief clerk of the Public Works Department, Auckland, has been transferred to Wellington as accommodation officer. , Mr. E. O. Huie will shortly leave for England via America to take up his duties as resident London representative of the Christchurch “Press” Company. ,

Mr. T. Forsyth was last night appointed by the council of Victoria University College, Wellington, to represent it at the conference called by the Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, for August 3 to consider plans for the New Zealand centennial celebrations in the Wellington province. Mr. Thomas R. Campbell, according to cable advice received from London, has been appointed a director of John Dewar and Sons, Ltd., the whisky dis-, tillers, of Perth (Scotland) and London.
