Q-ARY COOPER will have the leading male lead in Paramount’s “Diamond Rush” in which he is seen as a professional runner imported from America to Africa t» stake out the best claims for the largest diamond syndicate. Carole Lombard will have the leading feminine role.

JMARGARET SULLAVAN, noted screen star, is cast appropriately enough, in the role of a screep star in Paramount’s “The Moon’s Our Home” which features Henry Fonda, Henrietta Crosman, Charles Butterworth and Beulah Bondi in supporting roles.

“RHODES OF AFRICA” had its first screening in the Southern Hemisphere at the Embassy Theatre, Sydney, recently, and the “Sydney Morning Herald’’ devoted a full column in praise of this memorable reproduction of the thrilling adventures in Africa of that amazing man and empire builder, the Right Honourable Cecil John Rhodes, whose eventful story reads like many pages torn from “The Arabian Nights.”

■VVHAT is .acclaimed as the screen’s ’’ "perfect love-team” comes to the screen in the Fox picture, “Private Number.” Handsome Robert Taylor and lovely Loretta Young are costarred and the combination is said to be the most outstanding film romantic union since Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell were first cast together. Romance, in fact, is the keynote of “Private Number” although comedy, drama and suspense are also interwoven into the plot. _

TT has been announced that David O. Selznick will produce “The Man With a Young Wife,” an original story by Oliver H. P. Garrett, with the noted character actor, Edward Arnold, in the starring role. This modern characterisation will mark a distinct departure for Arnold who has been distinguishing himself recently in strictly biographical roles. He is at present portraying the lumber baron in the Goldwyn production of “Come and Get It.”

(''LA.BLE advice has been received by Columbia Films, from Sydney, that Miss Georgina Sterling, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Sterling, Wellington, has been allotted a role in that company’s Australian production of the Zane Grey story, “Rangle River,” in which the star will be the Hollywood actor, Victor Jory, and which will be directed by Clarence Badger. Mr. Jory and Mr. Badger passed through New Zealand recently en route to Australia.

A 8.1. P. production soon to be screened in Wellington is “Living Dangerously” starring Otto Kruger (in his first British film) and Leonora Corbett, who, you will remember as the lovely actress who played opposite Richard Tauber in “Heart’s Desire.” The public will be shown, for the first time in the annals of film production, a scene depicting a meeting of the General Medical Council. This intensely dramatic incident in the picture will show the public how a doctor has to answer before the G.M.C., charges of unprofessional conduct.
