Legislation Approved By Labour Caucus EARLY INTRODUCTION IN HOUSE There is a possibility that the Prevention of Profiteering Bill, providing for tlie establishment of a judicial tribunal with power to- control and regulate commodity prices, will be introduced in the House of Representatives to-day, according to a statement made last evening by the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. SI J. Savage, in an interview. The Bill had been drafted for some days, the Prime Minister added, and had been approved by the Government caucus. It was only a question of having it put into final form by the law draftsman.

Mr. Savage said there was no likelihood of the Mortgage Readjustment Bill appearing before next week. Considerable care had been taken in drawing up the measure which, owing to the difficulty of the problem with which it dealt, was of a somewhat complex nature. The Government would aim at having the bill introduced as early as possible. It had been approved by the Government Party caucus. FORTY-HOUR WEEK AND PUBLIC SERVICE The intentions of the Government concerning the application of the 40liour week to the Public Service wore sought by Mr. 11. A. Wright (Independent. Wellington Suburbs) in notice of a question to the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, in the House of Representatives yesterday. Mr. Wright asked in the event of the introduction of the shorter working week after September 1 what steps were being taken to train the additional men and women required to effect the change. i
