SOUTH CANTERBURY GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP
By Telegraph—Press Association. Timaru, June 23. In the closest and most thrilling final seen at Highfield links. E. G. Kerr, jun., won the South Canterbury amateur golf championship to-day, tieing with the titleholder. J. R. Mackay, in the aggregate of the morning and afternoon rounds. Kerr snatched victory by one stroke on the last hole in the play-off over 11 holes. Mackay had 75 in the morning and Kerr 77, but in the afternoon Kerr did 73 to Mackay’s The intermediate title was won by D. J. Lack (Geraldine), and the junior by E. Lawrence (Timaru).
