CONFERENCE PROBLEM
Dardanelles War Graves
Montreux, June 20..
Difficulties are likely to arise at the Dardanelles Conference in connection with visits to British and Australian war graves, in view of the natural desire of the Turkish military authorities to ensure secrecy of the fortifications, for establishing which they seek the authority of the conference. Mr. Stanley Bruce is closely watching the issue.
The special correspondent of “The Times” at Montreux says that Turkey states that the question of the Dardanelles graves Is likely to be one of the most delicate the conference will have to decide. The Turkish Government is In entire sympathy with the British desire to preserve the cemeteries, but foreign visitors and caretakers could scarcely be welcome to the military authorities.
