Whirokino Road Deviation.—It is to avoid floods, such as those which occurred toward the end of last week, rendering the highway between Levin and Foxton impassable, that the extensive work on the Whirokino deviation has been undertaken. Top: A section of the flooded highway south of Foxton. Bottom: Excavation work proceeding to form a sure foundation for the new road, which will be raised considerably above the level of the present highway, seen just beside it.
