Murderer at Melbourne
Melbourne, June 22.
Edward Cornelius, mechanic, was hanged this morning for the murder of the Rev. Laceby Cecil, vicar of St. Saviour’s, Fitzroy, on December 12. Cornelius’s only remark on the scaffold was, “I’m all right.’’. Archbishop Head spent an hour with the condemned man yesterday, being his only visitor, apart from the jail chaplain, since the appeal failed.
