LEWES BY-ELECTION
Conservatives Retain Seat
London, June 19.
The Lewes by-election due to Captain the Hon. J. de V, Loder's acces slon to the Peerage resulted In the re turn of Rear Admiral T. P. H. Beam isb (Conservative), with 14,646 votes his Labour opponent, Mr, A. Gordon, securing 7557.
At the 1935 general election Captain Loder (Conservative), who was first elected in 1931, retained the seat by 24,64-1 votes against 10,559 secured by Mr. F. Hancock, his Labour opponent.
