DEFENCE POLICY
Maintenance of Adequate Force Necessary
SCHEME FOR TRAINING OF AIR PILOTS
By Telegraph—Press Association.
Dunedin, Juno 21.
The Minister of Defence,' Hon. F. Jones, replying to the toast of “Empire and Defence” at a reunion of volunteers yesterday, said the Government’s defence policy had not yet been formulated. They were studying the policies of previous Governments and were agreed on the point that New Zealand must support the British Government in efforts for world peace. Mr. Jones said he considered it was the duty of the country to provide for the training of air pilots, and the Government was considering a scheme of co-operation with England in this respect. Though the Government wanted world peace, it was realised that it would be necessary, till some nations regained their sanity, to maintain an adequate defence force.
