Fine generally, with frosts and morning fogs.
Following is the weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 24 hours ending 4 p.m. to-day:—_ Pressure is still low to the east, and a very slight depression is located west of Cape Maria Van Diemen, but an anti-cyclone extends across the Tasman Sea
on to the Dominion. Easterly winds at first in the far north, and westerly in the far south; otherwise southerlies predominating; force light to moderate mainly, but strong on parts
of the east coast. A considerable but decreasing southerly swell south of East Cape; elsewhere in New Zealand waters seas slight to moderate. Moderate southerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, veering to westerly in the
southern portion; seas moderate. Weather fine generally, but a few isolated showers probable in the far north and south. Cold night temperatures with many frosts and morning fogs. WEEK-END WEATHER.
Wellington.—Saturday was brilliantly fine, with a northerly breeze in the morning dying away to a calm in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 58.2 deg. Sunday was fine and pleasant with a gentle southerly breeze. The maximum temperature was 56.4 deg. Rainfall at “The Dominion’’ building for 48 hours ended midnight, nil.
Total for month. 1.81 in.; total for year, 24.71 in. Palmerston North.—Saturday: Passing clouds; bright sunshine; moderate but cold westerly wind. Sunday: Brilliant sunshine from a cloudless sky; variable wind from all round the compass, but mainly westerly to northerly. Masterton.—Saturday: Fine and sunny; no wind. Sunday: Bright sunshine;
cloudless sky; light westerly breeze. Wanganui.—Fine over the week-end, Saturday being perfect, with bright sunshine and a cloudless sky. Auckland. —Unsettled weather with a moderate to fresh south-west wind prevailed on Saturday, light rain showers being experienced until yesterday morning. Yesterday was fine, with cloudy intervals. The wind decreased to a light breeze. The barometer«was steady at 30.10 in. since Friday night. Christchurch. —Cold but fine during the week-end. Saturday was dull and overcast. with a maximum temperature of 52.9 deg. and a heavy frost of Bdeg. at night, but Sunday morning was gloriously sunny though still cold, The maximum temperature was 50.9 deg. A very light south-south-west breeze blew throughout the week-end. ... ~ . Dunedin.—A cold south-westerly breeze was experienced on Saturday, and though the sun shone in the morning, conditions were unpleasant. There were showers in the afternoon. Altnough the wind was again from the south-west yesterday, conditions showed an improvement, bright sunshine prevailing throughout the day with an. accompanying rise in the temperature. The barometer was steady at 30.10rn.
