SYDNEY FLAT MYSTERY

Dead Woman Identified; Man Who Rented Room

MAY BE ABOARD AORANGI

By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright (Received June 21, 11.42 p.m.)

Sydney, June 21.

The body of the woman who was found strangled in a wardrobe in a flat in Clarence Street on Friday has been identified as that of Mabel Patricia Goodman, aged 36, a single woman, who was formerly employed as a waitress.

Detectives have a good description and have discovered the name of the man who rented a room in the building where the body of Miss Goodman was found. There is a strong feeling that the man is aboard the Aorangi, which is nearing New Zealand. He is an Englishman about 30 years of age, sft. Ilin, in height, with brown hair, a ruddy complexion and a scar across his throat. He is probably dressed in a grey suit, dark brown felt hat and wellworn tan shoes. The police are of opinion that the woman followed the man from England about 1926. The man is expected to apply for a position as a cook, waiter or kitchenman.
