POLICE ASSOCIATION
In Preliminary Stages
“The project is purely in its preliminary stages at present, and there is nothing that can be said just now,” said the Deputy-Commissioner of Police, Mr. R. F. Madden, when asked by “The Dominion” yesterday to comment on the report that the formation of a police association was becoming an actual fact.
Mr. Madden said permission had been given for members of the police force throughout New Zealand to hold meetings to discuss the proposal to form an association, and although meetings had been Held in many places the full results were not yet completed. A meeting to discuss the proposal was held recently in Wellington, and the majority was in favour of the formation of .an association. A committee was appointed, but there was nothing that could be made public in the meantime.
