BURST WATER MAIN
Flood in London Streets
(British Official Wireless.)
(Received June 18, 5.5 p.m.)
Rugby, Juno 17.
Remarkable scenes followed the bursting of a water main in the centre of London to-day. Neighbouring streets were soon several feet deep with a swirling tide which swept into shops, flooded cellars and brought traffic to a standstill. The tramway tunnel from Kingsway to (lie Embankment was flooded and dislocation of the tramway service resulted over a considerable area.
