London, June 18.
A Vienna message states that Italy does not object to a restoration of the Habsburg dynasty to the throne of Austria.
According to the “Reichspost” on June .16. Italy approves and even ein phasises that the restoration question is purely an internal Austrian affair, because no international treaty pre vents Austria from choosing her owe form of government. As a monarchical country and friend of Austria, Italy will understand all decisions of the Austrian people, whether other countries are pleased or not. The Archduke Otto, Pretender to the Throne, in a letter to Austria from his Belgian exile, promises to bridge over all class antagonisms when he is restored to the throne. “As a true Habsburg I will make sacrifices in my Austria.” The Archduke Eugene, addressing a mass meeting of ex-servicemen, stated that a plebiscite on the restoration of the monarchy would be held in the autumn and he had no doubt that an overwhelming majority would favour the return of the Archduke Otto as Emperor.
