ADVANCES ON WHEAT
Move to Avert Slump InEgypt
Alexandria, June 17.
In order to avert a slump in the wheat market, the Egyptian Government is guaranteeing the banks and giving advances on wheat. It is officially stated that this is not intended to raise prices artificially but merely to stop panic consequent on the arrival of the new crop before the old crop is disposed of.
