Mr. Hugh Ruttledge, the leader of this year’s expedition, states that it has been abandoned, since deep snow makes further attempts useless. He is seen in the picture to the left shaking hands with Captain Short, of the liner Ranchi, when leaving England in that vessel for India. Others in the group are (from left) : Dr. Noel Humphreys (medical officer of the party) and Mrs. Humphreys, Lieut. Gavin (also of the party), and Mrs. Ruttledge.
