Palmerston North. June 13.

No fewer than 12 of the Massey Agricultural College first fifteen players were announced as being on the injured list yesterday morning, and it was felt that the college would have some difficulty in fielding a team this afternoon, but bY patching up the lesser injured members and taking a good number of players from its second fifteen, a team was assembled. Of those playing Campbell was suffering from a back injury, Ball was recovering from a bout of fever and had a broken nose, Pane was looking after an injured leg, Herbert had an injury to his head. Lewes was protecting a stitched gash over his eye, and Sutton had the appearance of having been badly knocked about. During the match Herbert was again injured and had to go off. Those players who were unable to take part included Blythe, who is suffering from a dislocated thumb and sprained leg; Green, who has a. nasty cut ou his forehead necessitating six stitches; Fletcher, who is a hospital case, with a very severe gash on his knee; Wishart, who has a strained knee; Irving, who is suffering with a fractured rib; Rees, who has sprained a tendon, and Harper, who has injured one of his legs so badly that his football for this season is completed. It is to be hoped that these unfortunate players will have recovered sufficiently to enable them to take the field for the continuation of inter-club matches on the Saturday after next, a spell being provided by representative fixtures set down for next Saturday.

Rail-car at Palmerston. , Shortly before a quarter past twelve to-day, the Railways Department’s new rail-car Maahunui passed quietly through the Square at Palmerston North, many people being attracted to the railside by the ear’s hooter. Tlfe car had about 4" passengers on board, and was bound for Napier. It passed through Palmerston North on the return journey to 'Wellington early this evening.

According to the annual report of the Palmerston North Bowling Club, the finances of the club are in a satisfactory position, after a very successful season. The protit on the year’s working, without allowing for the usual depreciation, and after providing for the reconditioning of the greens, was £23/9/4. Depreciation on buildings and plant, amounting to £35/10/- was written off. leaving the surplus account at £677/10/10.

Rugby Rule Questioned. It was resolved at last night’s meeting of the Manawatu Rugby Referees’ As-

sociation, to forward the following question to the New Zealand Rugby Referees’ Association for its ruling:—“Under law IS no mention is made of the passing of the ball by a player putting an off-side man on side. On page 47 of ‘Notes and Rulings’ mention is made of an off-side player being unable to intercept a pass, (a) Is this ruling correct? If so, under what law? (b) If the ruling is correct, does it mean that the passing.of the ball by an opponent puts an off-side player oil side; that is. should the words ‘or passed’ be inserted to subsection b of law 18? The off-side players referred to in the above are not infringing under the ten-yard rule.” Road Cycling.

Model Aeroplane Club. Built by two members of the Wellington Model Aeroplane Club, Messrs. Ombler and Baker, a model aeroplane was given its initial test flights in a paddock adjacent to the Milson aerodrome. Palmerston North, recently. Powered hy a Brown Junior- petrol motor of onefifth of a horse-power, the model has a wing span of eight tee and an over-nil length of seven feet. A 15-ineh propeller turns over at a rate of 700 revolutions a minute. The first test.. which was taken on the ground for adjustment purposes. was very successful. On the tird flight the machine took off ami circled once for twenty seconds, ami on the second occasion it took off and climbed about 40 feet, making two circles round tho field, and coming in for a good three-point landing after being in the air for 45 seconds.
